I haven't posted any new work in a while, but that doesn't mean I'm not doing anything. Here is my photo of Beau Garrett in a Revlon Ad from April.

MCCARREN PARK POOL TONIGHT!
Going to see Yeah Yeah Yeah's and Sonic Youth tonight. They are playing at McCarren park pool, which is (you guessed it) a public pool. Well actually, an empty, abandoned outdoor pool that (last time I saw it) was full of weeds and graffiti. It's pretty cool that they have events here during the summer. But I hear that the port-a-potty and beverage situation is less than desirable.
Complot 51
I finally received copies of Complot Magazine, Issue 51. I shot the Cover + 20 pages of fashion and beauty inside. The cover model is my beautiful buddy Judith Bedard. The entire story should be available on my website soon. :)

mollie
I guess it's ANTM week. I shot Mollie Gondi AKA Mollie Sue one of the girls who was kicked off ANTM this past season (and a friend of Danny, below).
She is really cool. She's a great person and personality. Hopefully her not winning the show will allow her to avoid the "curse" of reality tv.

Danny
I shot Danielle Evans today. She is the winner of America's Next Top Model (6th "cycle") and is a Ford Model. I've shot several girls from the show, and I have to say she is one of the hottest. I don't think I have to explain why...

Cherish
Finally, an update. I shot the group Cherish for Blender magazine yesterday. According to iTunes, and depending on the single, they are either R&B/Soul or Pop. However you want to categorize them, these four sisters (they are really sisters) were young and cute, which is the only thing important to a photographer...(I can show this shot since it's nothing like the final product).

Grand Awesomeness
I just got back from the Apple Store Fifth Ave Grand Opening.
The place is amazing, and it's supposed to be open 24/7/365. That is crazy. I purchased an extra power adapter for my new baby, the white Macbook. I was one of the first 2500 people in, so I got a free commemorative t-shirt. cool. I can confirm that the black Macbooks are pretty hot, if anyone was wondering.
We already know that Mac users have the best operating system and Apple makes the best hardware for us. Is it really fair that we also get the best retail experience of anyone in the computing universe? Yeah, it is. ;)
Click on the image to check out my other images from the event and my cool panoramic shot of the store interior.

Jay Hernandez

I shot Jay Hernandez yesterday for New York Moves magazine. You may know him from the recent film "Hostel" or as the dude every guy envied in "Crazy/Beautiful" because he played Kirsten Dunst's boyfriend and got to see her jump around in that white t-shirt...you know what I'm talking about.
He plays a firefighter in Oliver Stone's "World Trade Center" (which may be tough for us New Yorkers to watch) and stars in "Six Degrees" (from the creators of "Lost"). I bet that is gonna be good.
He was cool.

Macbook 13"
My new Macbook! Check out the unpacking at
my .Mac page
...moved to my Flickr
account...
13" widescreen 1280x800, 2Ghz Intel core duo, superdrive. Shooting digital on location is gonna be fast now!
Thanks to all the interest (and 14,000+hits on my last check), my .Mac account went over it's allowed bandwidth and Apple shut me down!!! Can you believe that today was the first day of the cycle? Argh. Where is the love, Apple? I was forced to remove the pics and paid $20 to upgrade my service so I could continue using .mac.

Everybody knows your name

Even if they don't, I'm sure there are at least a dozen people in the world that have your name. So how do you help friends, family and (more importantly) clients find the real you when doing a search online? it's called Claim ID. it's cool, but let's see if it catches on. It doesn't work if no one gets it.
Click on me -->

I heard about his one on commandN and Inside the net. Amber and Leo recommend "Googling"someone before you go on a date with them. With Claim ID they will see you, and not the other dude with your name who collects doll heads.
*leave a comment to let me know if you try it!

yahoo.fr-rihanna
So, I'm hanging with Judith when she goes to check her yahoo.fr mail. what do I see? My photo of Rihanna on a Yahoo France Music AD!!
I don't know anything about it, so I've shot an email off to my editor at CorbisOutline to see if it was approved.
His answer is the difference between a normal check and a really big one...Updates later.
(interesting fact: My celebrity work is syndicated by CorbisOutline, which is owned by Bill Gates)

Cinco de mayo!!!

Judith Bedard
It was a nice day and Stephen asked me to go out to lunch since our school friend Jenie was visiting from Vegas. I was in the mood for mexican. Being the nerd that I am, I surfed over to Yelp to find Tequilas!. (credit goes to Veronica for turning me onto Yelp. I'd never heard of it before. I stole last.fm from her too.)
The place was super busy. I had forgotten that it was Cinco de Mayo, Heh. Get a load of our feast!

I was so happy to find someplace in NYC with good, cheap mexican food. It's even in my neighborhood. I'm definitely gonna be a regular.
An hour and a half lunch later we decide to go back to my apartment where Stephen spotted my 40th anniversary edition of Risk, the game of world domination. We used to play during our college years in SF, and Stephen though it was a good idea to play it again. This set is super nice, with metal figurines. I bought it in the early days of internet shopping, when you could find those great $20 off of $20 coupons that put so many .coms out of business.
We strategically place our forces....Stephen was red, Jenie was green and I'm gold. Notice how we had to clamp the board to the table so no one "accidentally" knocked it over.

Four hours later (a short game) I conquered the world. It all ended in Western Europe. I wouldn't have predicted it as I tend to play recklessly...I hate it when people hoarde their forces (Stephen does that).

Stephen...laughing about hoarding his forces...or did he just have too much wine?

It was an unusual Friday. It started out high-tech, went very low-tech and ended up back here at high-tech. People often forget how fun low-tech can be. I did.

Another new work post in as many days. that's pretty rare, but I'm on a retouching marathon. Check it out.
No plans for this one to be published...
(Again, regular visitors to my site can't see it yet, as I haven't worked it into the menus. when I am caught up on all my retouching, I will do one major update to my site and announce it.)

(Regular visitors to my site can't see it yet, as I haven't worked it into the menus...that is the curse of having a site built on HTML without any master templates that automatically modify all pages for you :( )

P30
my new baby. 31.6 Megapixels...oh yeah. I'm sure none of you care...but that's ok. you'll like my pictures better. The left half is the back view, the right is the sensor. Almost full frame 6x4.5cm images.

I guess you don't get what you want if you don't ask for it..
Complaining to the gods worked. I get my P30 on Monday! Yee haw!
My creative crutch

I am getting tired of this P20. Since I mainly shoot for a single page, the square format of the P20 is pretty useless. I had to draw a special crop mark on my viwefinder mask to remind me what the usable image area is. The difference between the P30 and P20's usable image areas are signifigant, and as long as I have the P20, none of my lenses work properly. It's almost pointless trying to shoot a dynamic beauty spread. I have to shoot from so far away that I can barely maneuver any cool angles. It's extremely annoying. Where is my P30, Phase One? Is there only one guy in Denmark building these things?
Oh, It's been 13 weeks since I placed my order...

Josh Bernstein
I shot Josh Bernstein yesterday for Flaunt Magazine. Josh is the host of a program on the History Channel called Digging for the Truth. It's a really interesting show...you should check it out.
It's the first time I had a chance to use the P20 on a job. With today as the deadline, I can't imagine how I could have done it on film. The detail in the portraits is amazing, but I have to wait until the magazine comes out before I post any online.

I saw the Yeah Yeah Yeah's last night at Bowery Ballroom in NYC. The show was great and they have a lot of really good new songs.
